The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Is Here, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.

Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Iconic Releases

Much like the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release around the time of the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo confirmed three new games already confirmed for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
